How to succeed in F1 in Schools

Hello, we are Pocadores, the brazilian F1 in Schools champions team of 2022.

We'll pass on some tips on how to become a successful team in F1 in Schools.

We would like to start by making it clear that the success of a team is not measured by its awards, but by the team's ability to overcome itself every day. Every member should compare themselves to who they were yesterday and see an improvement, just like Professor Dr. Jordan B. Peterson quoted, "Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not who someone else is today."

So, to be a successful team, we first need to be a real TEAM! Teamwork and the daily effort of each member are essential when you want to have positive results, as constant good work done by the team is capable of great achievements! After all, the sum of effort and skill in each area of the project is what makes us successful in the tournament. Therefore, it is important not to focus only on one function, as this can guarantee success in that area, and who knows a category award, however more important than that is to achieve success as a TEAM that we are! Our team, in this last national championship, for example, was made up of five very different people who, working towards a common goal, did their best for the Pocadores team and won 1st place. No area of the team was poorly evaluated, all jobs were well developed and, therefore, we achieved success in the competition!

However, we cannot deceive ourselves. Of course, conflicts will appear and maybe one of the areas will experience difficulties, that's natural. The key to success is how you find to solve them. Therefore, the area of people management is important in the team. Mainly, the leader needs to keep the team aligned with its goals, so each member will work with the same objective and all tasks will be well performed. Thus, keeping the team together and cohesive is necessary for POCAR in the F1 in Schools project.

Another important point for the success of the team is project management, with cohesive management from start to finish, with the tasks, deadlines and objectives of the team very clear in one place, each member understands what they need to do and when they need to do it , so the team's work becomes more efficient and success will follow. The individual dedication of each one is also important, therefore, it is necessary that everyone fulfill their tasks and responsibilities so that together we can achieve our goals.

To paraphrase Bernardinho Rezende, one of the most important leaders the sport has ever known, “The bridge between dream and reality is discipline”. We understand, then, that focus during training is essential, and for this to be possible, it is necessary to have an adequate environment to work, good equipment, the help of technicians, among others. However, like everyone else, we also need moments of relaxation, which are just as important as work.

After all these years, we've realized that the most IMPORTANT asset to becoming a successful team is persistence. And that's how we achieved our goals, keeping in mind that every time we pass through a barrier, there will be a next one that we will have to face. We learned to enjoy the work as much as the victory, and this is what allowed us to evolve more every day, looking for new ways to innovate and manage all areas, also because victory is not more important than the effort we make to achieve it there.
